Financial planning is the best of both worlds for me, my love of numbers combined with my love of helping people! As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, I welcome the opportunity to work with clients and explore different paths that allow them to live the life they want. I graduated from Virginia Tech and always believed that at some point I would come back to Blacksburg to live and work. I had no idea it would be so soon, but my husband, Andrew and I are thrilled to be here. We are enjoying getting to know the area and the people again. Read more...

As the head of operations, I focus on quality and efficiency to serve our clients with speed and precision. While much of my work is behind-the-scenes, my goal is to keep the operations part of the client experience running smoothly and to proactively put out any fires before they start. I have far too many interests but the recurring theme that runs throughout my personal and professional life is my love of learning new things. Currently, I'm fascinated by gardening and permaculture and hope to one day own my homestead with my wife, Luvie, and our two dogs, Maple and Philo. Read more...

I work with our team of planners scheduling and helping prepare for client meetings. My other duties include managing the day-to-day office operations and coordinating special projects. When challenges arise, I am energized by problem solving and finding solutions. Growing up in the Tidewater area, it’s attending college at Virginia Tech that brought me to the New River Valley. It did not take long to fall in love with the mountains and it's where my husband, Harley, and I raised our blended family of five girls. Read more...

My goal is to educate communities on why financial planning is for everyone and to help bring peace of mind to the individuals and families we already serve. As a former television producer and a marketing director for several construction companies, I combine my experiences behind the camera with developing messages to educate and empower OLIO's clients. When I'm not learning what else clients want to know about, I love spending time with my family and friends, baking desserts, and traveling. I hope my next trip is to walk a portion of El Camino de Santiago in Spain. Read more...

I am passionate about doing nose-work and agility training with my dog, Izzy. These training sessions have taught me so much about communication and trust. Just like the connections we make with our four-legged friends, the relationships we build with our clients are forged over time and with focused attention given to your financial goals and needs. As a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM and IRS Enrolled Agent, I am equally passionate about making sure clients take all the tax deductions they're allowed (no, really!) as I am about helping clients remove any financial obstacles that keep them from living the life they want. Creative thinking fuels my brain. Give me the parameters and let me create the design. Whether it’s a business process or a newsletter, I am energized by problem solving and bringing something to life. Previously, I worked at JSW Financial for nine years and I am delighted now to be with OLIO as the Dean of Design and Quality Assurance. I am excited to renew relationships and get reacquainted with the clients I served at JSW. My family has grown to include three boys, which makes for a lively household and lots of fun! Read more...

As OLIO’s first resident in financial planning, I am energized by the opportunity for hands-on experience with the clients and gaining greater knowledge. As a graduate of Virginia Tech with a degree in Finance, I chose financial planning to help people and to better understand how they are influenced by money. Growing up, my family spent time during the summer helping my grandparents on their farm in Highland County, Virginia. My time there revolved around riding the tractor, tinkering with farm equipment, and helping take care of the cows. At the end of the day it was always a treat to sit around a campfire with my family and feast on hotdogs, a silver turtle, or s’mores. I treasure that family time and it taught me some valuable lessons about a strong work ethic and the importance of family. I am honored to be a part of the OLIO family and to bring a strong work ethic to helping clients achieve their financial goals. Read more…

As the Founder of OLIO Financial Planning and a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER TM , my passion is providing real financial planning with a fee structure that isn't tied to an account balance or a product. I strive to make financial planning easy, so people feel empowered to actually do it. If you're interested in learning more about how we might help you, be sure to ask me how a Coca-Cola and Mr. Goodbar impacted my own finances. This perhaps tells the whole story! Read more...

My career path has taken me in many different directions over the years. As an educator, author, entrepreneur, and wealth management advisor, the one constant throughout my life has been my desire to help people. When I entered the financial planning industry in 1981, I knew I wanted to better understand behavioral finance and the impact of thinking strategically about the possibilities of money. I find great joy in helping people dream and discover that the "joy of wealth" has little to do with money. In my free time, you will find me playing the tenor saxophone or spending time in the outdoors, which include archery and quiet moments reflecting on the wonder of God’s creation. Read more...

I love working with numbers and spreadsheets to figure out the best path for clients to achieve their financial goals. Financial planning is a complex process and I believe being a part of the OLIO residency program gives me the perfect opportunity to add to the knowledge base I received while in college at Virginia Tech and now build on experience and client interaction. My interest in money and its potential began with a stock market competition in middle school. That experience captured my attention and I knew I wanted to learn more about the influence money has on our lives. While I am focused on becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, in my leisure hours, I have fun with my dog Bella and enjoy spending time outdoors, hiking, fishing and hunting. Read more…
