When you dump out all of the pieces of a puzzle, it can be overwhelming knowing where to start. However, by looking at the picture on the front of the box, it makes what previously seemed complicated, simple. My passion within financial planning is helping my clients understand the complex financial pieces in their lives. By using creative techniques to help clients “start with the edge pieces and then fill in the middle,” I’m able to communicate complicated financial strategies in an easy-to-understand format.
Prior to joining OLIO Financial Planning, I worked for a leading wealth management firm in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. During my three years as a Client Service Apprentice, I was an extension of the senior advisors as we worked together to serve over 100 doctors, entrepreneurs, and first-generation affluent individuals.
Growing up as an avid outdoorsman, I spent countless hours hunting and fishing with my dad and brother. Sometimes I’d pass the time in a blind by asking my dad questions about how the world worked. Specifically, I always wanted to know about the economy and personal finance (no, really!). However, my love of wetland conservation led me to first study biology in college. After a fortuitous fishing trip with a Virginia Tech professor where I further explored my financial planning interests, I enrolled in Virginia Tech’s financial planning program.
During my senior year, I worked as a Teaching Assistant for one of my professors. I gave lectures both on and off campus as well as helped my professor create his lesson plans and class assignments. It’s during this time I realized I am passionate about finding creative ways to explain complicated topics. If you’ve made it all the way to this sentence and don’t understand something related to your financial situation, shoot me an email! I’d love the chance to try to explain it to you in a new, innovative way!
