It seems as if I have always worked. My first “real” job was helping my grandmother during the summer when I was thirteen. She was the store manager at a Krispy Kreme donut shop in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I sold donuts, poured coffee, washed dishes and even handled the cash transactions.
I work with our team of planners scheduling and helping prepare for client meetings. My other duties include managing the day-to-day office operations and coordinating special projects. When challenges arise, I am energized by problem solving and finding solutions.
Before I joined the financial planning world, I worked for several non-profit organizations including New River Community Action and the Free Clinic of the New River Valley. That experience helped hone my organizational and leadership skills to better serve in a management position. Working in a tight-knit community like the New River Valley gives you a front row seat to what can be accomplished when compassion and resourcefulness join forces.
Education has always been a priority for me. I am the first person from my immediate family to graduate from college. I attended Virginia Tech and majored in psychology and minored in sociology. Coming to the mountains was an adjustment having grown up near the ocean with warmer temperatures and more humid weather. It did not take long to fall in love with the New River Valley and the people who call it home.
My husband, Harley, and I have a blended family of five girls who still keep us pretty busy.
